What did everyone “like” on Facebook in 2011? Well, it seems that in addition to everything from “Harry Potter” to Megan Fox, Rihanna also ruled the roost on Facebook‘s Memology 2011 report.

Rihanna not only topped the list of musicians, she also had the Most Listened To Song thanks to her chart-topping “We Found Love,” the Calvin Harris-produced Talk That Talk track. The singer is also joined on the list by Bob Marley, Avril Lavigne, David Guetta, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, Lady Gaga, Metallica, Green Day and the Black Eyed Peas.

In addition to “We Found Love,” people also grooved to Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO, “Titanium” by Guetta and Sia, Skrillex’s “First of the Year” and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites,” the Usher and Guetta track “Without You,” “Stereo Hearts” by Gym Class Heroes (featuring Adam Levine), Foster the People’s breakthrough hit “Pumped Up Kicks” and “Someone Like You” by Adele.

MTV has also been looking back on the Best of 2011. EDM artists Guetta and Skrillex made noise on Facebook, but they also took top prizes on our countdown of the top 10 electronic dance music artists of the year, with Guetta placing at #2 and Skrillex taking the #1 spot.

Movies and TV also had Facebook users talking. “Harry Potter” topped the movies list, followed by flicks like “The Twilight Saga,” “Toy Story,” “Avatar,” and “Jackass.”

Fox’s medical drama “House” was the most talked-about show on Facebook in the past 12months. Thanks to Charlie Sheen leaving and Ashton Kutcher joining “Two and a Half Men,” the show placed at #2, followed by series like “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy” and “South Park.”

Former “Transformers” star Megan Fox sits at the top of the actors and TV personalities list. She’s joined by the likes of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Taylor Lautner, “Jersey Shore” star DJ Pauly D and Kim Kardashian.

MTV News recently counted down its own list of the Top 50 TV Characters of 2011. “Parks and Recreation” character Ron Swanson came out on top. Walter White from “Breaking Bad,” “Jersey Shore” star Snooki and Kim’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” co-star Scott Disick also placed in our rankings.

What do you think of Facebook’s 2011 Memology? Tell us in the comments.

Roscoe Dash Brings The ‘Awesome’ To Hottest Breakthrough Race

Atlanta MC builds on ‘All the Way Turnt Up’ momentum to land a spot on our list — vote now!
By Steven Roberts

It’s hard to believe Roscoe Dash has yet to put out an album.

“All the Way Turnt Up” was such a big record last year that hip-hop fans didn’t even think it was his. With Dash being a relative unknown — even within Atlanta’s unique hip-hop scene — people thought the record was by 2010 Hottest Breakthrough MC nominees Travis Porter. But once that was cleared up, everyone from Lil Wayne to Lupe Fiasco was ready to spit over the beat.

Dash’s next single, “Show Out,” was a solid effort, but it wasn’t nearly as successful as “Turnt Up.” It looked like Dash might’ve succumbed to one-hit wonder status. But then Roscoe turned up (get it?) on one of 2010′s most overlooked songs, Waka Flocka Flame’s “No Hands.” The song cemented Flocka as a viable mainstream artist, lent Wale a much-needed lifeline and established a market for Mr. R-O-S-C-O-E as a hook man — and helped land him on MTV News’ 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MCs list.

Dash’s raspy drawl would appear on DJ Drama’s “Oh My” with Fabulous and Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean’s “Marvin and Chardonnay” with Kanye West. These songs have helped bring about a second wave of interest in Dash. He recently dropped the videos for “Awesome” and “Good, Good Night.” Both songs are featured on his EP, J.U.I.C.E (Just Understand I Control Everything), which is set to drop later on this month.

“Music is something I just never stopped doing, especially in high school,” Dash told MTV News. “I remember staying up burning CDs one by one every night until I had, like, 300 CDs, stuffing them in a backpack and going to school the next day, passing them out.

“The biggest lesson that I’ve learned coming up is that your fans are going to be the most important people that you come in contact with,” he added. “They’re going to life you up whenever you don’t have the hottest song. They’re just going to rock with you for you.”

Hottest Breakthrough MCs was established by MTV News in 2010 as a fan-driven initiative that spotlights, celebrates and cultivates new talent. MTV News chose a pool of young rappers and urged fans to vote for their favorite. When it was all said and done, Wiz Khalifa emerged as the Hottest Breakthrough of last year. The competition was tough, but the Taylor Gang General beat out runner-up Nicki Minaj, ATL group Travis Porter, Diggy Simmons and J. Cole. This year, you can vote for Roscoe (or your favorite up-and-comer) over at RapFix.MTV.com, and be sure to check back for daily updates and poll results.

Each day, we’ll spotlight a new Hottest Breakthrough MC before we conclude Tuesday (December 13) when the polls close at 11:59 p.m. ET. The 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MC will be revealed during Wednesday’s “RapFix Live,” during which the winner will appear as our in-studio guest. There will also be a special announcement about MTV News’ upcoming Hottest MCs in the Game list and debate.

To be considered a Hottest Breakthrough MC, an artist cannot have released a major-label full-length album. Finalists from 2010′s Hottest Breakthrough MCs poll will not be eligible for 2011 consideration, so unfortunately, Diggy Simmons and Travis Porter won’t be part of this conversation.

Who do you think should be 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MC? Share your picks in the comments!

Steven Spielberg Talks ‘Indy 5′ And ‘Crystal Skull’ Backlash

‘I would not make a fifth movie to prove any point,’ director says of ‘Indiana Jones’ series.

Fans of the “Indiana Jones” movies have a complicated relationship with the series as a whole. No one knows this better than Steven Spielberg, the man who had to listen when fans cried out as the latest entry, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” failed to meet expectations.

Now with talk of George Lucas writing a potential fifth film, Spielberg could stand to undo what some fans saw as a bitter farewell to the beloved character. When the director spoke with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz while promoting “The Adventures of Tintin,” he explained that he would have nothing to prove with a new Indy movie.

“I already like the last ‘Indy.’ I loved ‘Crystal Skull,’ ” Spielberg said. “Yeah, I had a difference of opinion with the MacGuffin, so to speak, which I thought was a little bit out of character with the other MacGuffins in the other three films, but I still loved the experience making it.”

The fan reaction to “Crystal Skulls” reminded Spielberg of the similar backlash he faced after the release of “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.” “We had the same criticism on ‘Temple of Doom.’ That movie came out and it changed the whole rating system. Jack Valenti and I conspired to create the PG-13 rating system based on the number of complaints about the harshness and the heart coming out of the chest on a PG movie. I went through the same thing,” he said.

To Spielberg, the general opinion about the series is split down the middle. “I think audiences think we’re two for two. They love Raiders,” he said. “They love Last Crusade. They don’t love as much Temple of Doom or Crystal Skull.” Taking that into consideration, the director still feels no requirement for a fifth film.

“I would not make a fifth movie to prove any point. If we get a good story, I’ll make it. If George [Lucas] doesn’t think we should make any more, I’ll listen to him,” Spielberg said.

Ke$ha Drops Lil Wayne, T.I., Wiz Khalifa ‘Sleazy’ Remix

Remix also features Andre 3000 and is a bit racier than the original track.
By Jocelyn Vena

As promised, Ke$ha and her boys Lil Wayne, T.I., Wiz Khalifa and Andre 3000 dropped a new remix of “Sleazy” on Tuesday (December 13).

The Bangladesh-produced song originally appeared on K-Dollar’s 2010 Cannibal album before a remix featuring Andre popped up earlier this year. The latest version of the song is available for purchase and is all over blogs like Rapup.com. The song gets a bit dirtier and introspective thanks to verses from the guys that play up the track’s bumping beat.

Wiz kicks it off, rapping about designer clothes and his lady love, Amber Rose. “OK, I’m young and I’m tatted/ I get them bucks like an addict/ Rocking this Christian Dior/ I spend so much on my fabric/ I got a wifey at home/ And what she wants she can have it,” he spits before going on about chilling on the beach, being rich and his prowess in the bedroom.

Sitting in between Wiz and Tip is Andre’s recycled verse, before T.I. gets his shot and gets sexy, asking Ke$ha, “Do you know what to do with me?” before he launches into a verse all about how good he is to the ladies. “Bad bitches know me/ So don’t bother introducing me/ They want me more than diamonds,” he brags before explaining that it has a lot to do with his impressive anatomy.

Wayne closes it out, adding his own signature flair. “We be on that sh– that no one be on/ That’s what we on/ Smoke that neon, Kings of Leon/ Dynamite, Napoleon/ Got some skinnies and a tee on/ And some Vans,” he rhymes about his famous sense of Weezy-fied style before the song circles back to the funky chorus, where Ke$ha declares that she doesn’t “need you or your brand-new Benz/ Or your bougie friends/ I don’t need love lookin’ like diamonds/ Lookin’ like diamonds.”

If any of K’s fans or critics were wondering if she has the swagger to chill with the guys, she displayed some of her sass when she tweeted about the remix. “Question ANIMALS … who can say they got with Lil Wayne, T.I., Andre 3000 and Wiz Khalifa on a f—ing hot track??” she asked. “ill give u one clue … Its $.”

‘Dragon Tattoo’ Reviews: How Did Rooney Mara Do?

Moviegoers won’t be able to take their eyes off the American actress’ Lisbeth Salander, critics rave.
By Eric Ditzian

Rooney Mara owns “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”

That is to say, while the film shows off David Fincher at his meticulous, moody best and Daniel Craig delivers yet another stellar performance, but the beating heart of the picture — or, if you will, the exposed pierced nipple — is Mara as the spiky-haired hacker, Lisbeth Salander.

For all the shortcomings of “Dragon Tattoo”— and there are a bunch, from a pacing that sometimes drags to Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s deeply unsatisfying ending — you walk away unable to shake what you’ve just seen from Mara. Alternately vulnerable and vicious, her Salander is an entirely different creature from the one presented by Noomi Rapace in the Swedish version of the film and, what’s more, an entirely different creature from anything Mara offered in “The Social Network” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”

Let’s stop right there, before we go from gushing to outright hero worship. At least we’re not alone. With the “Dragon Tattoo” review embargo officially lifted, critics have been celebrating Mara’s performance.

The Transformation
“Rooney Mara’s blazing, uncompromising performance is the film’s center, practically its reason to exist. … Eyebrows bleached blond, hair jet black and scowling constantly, Salander has deliberately modeled herself as the opposite of the feminine ideal, and though Mara digs into her humanity and even sensuality, she never lets down Salander’s guard for the sake of the audience sympathy.” — Katey Rich, Cinema Blend

The Chemistry
“Mara and Craig make an indomitable screen pair, he nominally leading their intense search into decades-old serial killings, she surging ahead, plowing through obstacles with flashes of phenomenal intellect and eruptions of physical fury.” — David Germain, The Associated Press

The Sex Scenes
“[It's] Mara’s movie for the taking, and she snatches it up in dramatic fashion. … Fincher’s belief in her is borne out in a dominating performance of submerged rage, confidence and defiance. Baring all in the several sex scenes, both coerced and consensual, she goes all the way in a performance that compares favorably to that of Noomi Rapace in the Swedish version and its two sequels. She comes across here as the real deal.” — Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter

The Awards
“Mara, I feel, gives Salander a sadder and more vulnerable aura and a more emotionally readable quality than what Noomi Rapace delivered in the Swedish trilogy. You might compare the two films down the road and say, “Nope, don’t see it…six of one, half-dozen of the other” but I know what I felt from Mara’s eyes, and there’s a lot going on inside her, I swear. Tremors and feints and glances and looks that say “stay away, I don’t want you near….wait, maybe I do.” There’s enough in this performance, I feel, for Mara to be counted among the year’s Best Actress nominees.” — Jeffrey Wells, Hollywood Elsewhere

The Final Word
“You can’t take your eyes off Rooney Mara as the notorious Lisbeth Salander.” — David Denby, The New Yorker
